BT is now taking orders for Infinity, its fibre optic broadband service.

It’s offering FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) but not FTTP (to the premises), so still employs the local copper network for the final leg from the cabinet. However FTTC is still is able to supply significant speeds and shouldn’t be a concern.

If there is sufficient demand, it is likely that the other major ISPs will have arrangements with OpenReach to be able to offer their fibre services.

Welcome to the 21st century!
